Staten Island , coextensive with Richmond County, is the southernmost of the five boroughs and counties of New York City, New York. It is situated at the southernmost point of the state, separated from the adjacent state of New Jersey by the tidal straits Arthur Kill and the Kill Van Kull; it is separated from the rest of New York by New York Bay.
